The tree house you have dreamt as a child is now in Korea (Photography by Tree house)
Tree house, literally, a house on tree. It’s a type of architecture that builds houses on top of the tree. Countries that have thick forestry actually build tree houses to live in, but for us Koreans, we have always been more familiar with tree houses as secret fortress in animations or movies. And now we can see one in person in Korea. For all of you who are suffering under stress, lost in a forest of buildings, we suggest a ‘Forest Vacation’ in a fairy tale tree house.
‘Tree House’, a vacation destination for forest dreamers
Tree house located in Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi-do. It’s as good as any famous vacation destinations (Photography by Tree house)
“Is this really Korea?” With the tree house hidden inside the thick forest and a pool on one side, you would believe it if someone told you this was a faraway, exotic destination. But this is a tree house in Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi-do. Infatuated with the romantic landscape and subtle tree scents, you will finally realize the true value of the forest that had been around us all along.
All tree houses are a place where you breathe with the nature (Photography by Tree house)
This is the work of Tree house Korea, which have built great tree houses inside Mt. Hwangmae National Park, Yongsan natural forest, and the nature forest in Mt. Geumwon, Geochang. Tree house Korea CEO Jeong Ji-in built the tree houses with the intention of creating a space where you breathe with the nature, not just pretty places for your eyes. All tree houses are designed to experience the forest as you spend the night inside.

There are three types of tree houses: Tom Sawyer tree house which is actually two houses connected; Gingko tree house located in the middle of a mountain for those who fear heights; and Huckleberry Fin tree house which is a small space, about 5 pyeong altogether, but is much closer to the forest. Once you step inside, you will find a spectacular view.

Thick wooden columns are here and there in rooms and terraces in a natural manner. ‘Tree House’ doesn’t just look nature friendly. All tree houses were built with branches and columns that are meant to be there. Houses exist not apart from the nature but as a part of the forest.
Unfortunately, the tree house doesn’t open during the winter season, from December to February, due to structural reasons. But there are wooden houses that are also available for group visitors, so if you are planning a vacation in the forest, keep the info in mind.

‘I am Forest’, a silent forest hideout
Russian tree house that was used to film wild animals was realized here (Photography by I am Forest).
There is an untouched wild forest in Hongcheon, Gangwon-do. It’s the eco experience place ‘I am Forest’, run by expert wild animal photographer and master of nature documentary, director Choi Gi- soon. Director Choi affectionately calls this forest ‘the forest of Don Quixote’. In the forest there is a treehouse that could be the Don Quixote’s safe house. ‘The house on top of the dogwood tree’, which is I am Forest’s most well-known tree house, is an exact replica of the Russian tree house the owner once resided in when filming tigers in Russia’s Taiga forest.
There are the natural looking dogwood tree house and the oak tree house with modern facilities (Photography by I am Forest).
The dogwood tree house is the natural tree house, while there is a modern tree house equipped with facilities to allow spending the night; House on Oak Tree. The red roof and blue windows of ‘House on Oak Tree’ will remind you of smurf’s village.
‘I am Forest’ also operates independent house pensions and glamping sites as well as treehouses (Photography by I am Forest)
I am Forest also operates independent house pensions and glamping sites as well as tree houses. Wherever you are staying, you will be able to experience the nature in its entirety. The thick, wild forest will become your backyard, your garden. With this greenery surrounding the tree house, people of the modern society exposed to all sorts of noise and stimulation will be provided with the ‘silent relaxation’.
The graceful nature will take care of your body and mind’s fatigue (Photography by I am Forest)
If you visit at the right time, you will be able to see the brewing of wild tea in the garden that is connected to the forest. It’s a great environment to experience nature as it is. So, if you are visiting I am Forest, put down your phone for a while and listen to the sounds of the bugs in the grass. The scent of the summer air & dirt and the stars on clear night sky will wipe away all the fatigue of your body and mind.
