Hyundai Motor Group is doing numerous activities for children.
The weather is getting cooler, and yet it’s frustrating to be unable to go out and play. It is also very sad to have children inside homes when they should be outside running around. Grown ups are sorry, feeling as if this is all our fault.
What can we do for children right now? Hyundai Motor Group has been contemplating this for a long time. Here are a few of the results of their contemplation.
Kia Motors’ Football Boots Donation Campaign
Kia Motors has been donating football boots for the refugee children since 2018.
Kia Motors is an official automobile partner for ‘UEFA Europa League,’ which enthralls a billion football fans every year on average. Various marketing activities are carried out through the UEFA Europa League. There is also a special campaign carried out by Kia Motors. It’s the football boots donation campaign carried out jointly with the UEFA foundation for Children. They visit 6 European cities during the UEFA Europa League trophy tour period, receive donations of football boots for the children of Zaatari refugee camp in Jordan, and deliver the football boots to the children in the refugee camp. The value of sharing is shared with the football fans around the world by sharing a special experience.
It’s a great gift for refugee children who dream of a bright future as they play football amidst the difficult environment. Did you know that about 300 million people around the world live in an environment where they walk in barefoot? Children who have no choice but to walk barefoot are easily exposed to virus as they step on contaminated dirt. Simply wearing shoes can protect them a great deal.
Kia Motors caried out this year’s campaign via online schooling.
So far, football boots were not a popular donation subject compared to footballs, while there are so many football boots that we have but do not wear. Kia Motors paid attention to this aspect. They gathered the football boots that had been resting in people’s shoe closet so that they could be used for a better purpose. They became tools for the refugee camp children to protect themselves as well as hopes that allowed them to enjoy sport safely.
Unfortunately, COVID-19 made it inevitable to change this year’s offline event to be carried out online. Unlike the usual method of having football boots donated while touring the 6 European cities, this year the campaign was carried out in the form of online schooling. Children participated in the ‘#TheDreamPass’ online campaign with their family from home. The #TheDreamPass online campaign involves local ambassadors carrying out online football classes and children performing their football techniques following the ambassador’s teaching and talking about their dreams. Videos containing the children’s dreams were created, which will soon be delivered to the Joran refugee camp children with the football boots.
This year’s campaign included the global ambassador for 2020 UEFA Europa League trophy tour Michael Owen as well as legendary football players - Patrice Evra, Francesco Totti, Rafael van der Vaart, and Jerzy Dudek, who all participated to wish children happy.
Kia Motors X Good Neighbors, NORIGONGGAM kit
Kia Motors introduces ‘NORIGONGGAM kit’ for children, with Good Neighbors.
COVID-19 is shrinking the space for children to play in. Things you can do at home are also extremely limited. Kia Motors prepared a unique campaign for children’s play activities. To commemorate the 4th model launch of Korea’s leading family car ‘Carnival,’ they are carrying out the ‘Korean Children Happiness project - NORIGONGGAM kit’ campaign with the international relief and development NGO ‘Good Neighbors.’
This campaign is for 830 children living in Gangwon-do and Jeonnam regions. Goods that amount to 100 million KRW including ‘NORIGONGGAM kit,’ consisted of clay, board game, mini block (for lower graders), coloring book, and slime (for higher graders), Pinkpong baby shark belt, Seltos building block, etc., are delivered; there are also various play activities prepared for children to do with family and friends using kick board, skateboard, drone, Lego block, etc.
NORIGONGGAM kit is consisted of various things in consideration of a wide age scope of the children.
This campaign is a big gift to children who are tired form smartphones, TV, and their existing toys and games. It also contains the same message as that of Kia Motors’ ‘Greenlight Kids’ campaign which they carry out with the Road Traffic Authority. Kia Motors is carrying out various offline and online activities to spread safe traffic culture for children.
The NORIGONGGAM kit includes ‘Greenlight Traffic Safety kit.’ The Traffic Safety kit is consisted of numerous components such as a workbook including various problem-solving exercises and games on children’s traffic safety culture, OX card for questions and answers on traffic safety culture, and children’s picnic mat for family activities. Kia Motors continues their activities for children’s happiness regarding various themes which include children’s play culture and traffic safety as well.
Environment Protection Will Make Children Happy! Green Move Studio
Green Move Studio repairs, disinfects, and recycles discarded toys and sends them over to the places that need them.
The environment we pass on to our children doesn’t belong to us, but is a heritage of the future. We should be more responsible for it. What’s good for the environment is good for the children as well. To realize such a value, Hyundai Motor Group established a social cooperative Green Move Studio with Community Chest of Korea and a social corporate KokkiriGongjang, and began operation support for toys circulation.
Green Move Studio is a social cooperative that collects discarded plastic toys and then repairs, disinfects, and recycles them for the purpose of donating them to welfare facilities such as local children’s center that need toys while also upcycling and reselling them. They literally do ‘good’ business, by reducing plastic waste which has risen to be a huge social issue these days to realize environment protection and support children’s welfare centers.
Green Move Studio’s business can be largely categorized in 3 areas; toy repair, disinfecting children’s facilities, and upcycling. Green Move Studio visits local children’s centers, welfare facilities, orphanages, etc., for an all-around disinfection and collects unused toys which may be broken, etc. They check whether the toys brought to their workshop can be fixed and carry out the first categorization. Then depending on the repairable status, they carry out the secondary work. The toys that are repaired are disinfected and packaged before being delivered to those in need while the toys that cannot be repaired are sorted out according to materials for recycling.
Green Move Studio carries out disinfection for children’s facilities and upcycling as well.
The toys that are repaired and disinfected are primarily sent out to local children’s centers, welfare facilities, and minority families that need toys. Through the repair and disinfection, children who needed toys are given games as well as a healthy environment.
The Green Move Studio also plans to carry out environment education for children. They publish children’s books on recycling and resource cycling stories and plan on carrying out visitation environment education for children’s welfare facilities and daycare centers. Experience programs for children to disintegrate toys themselves with their family and thus accumulate scientific knowledge are also in preparation. The Green Move Studio is doing things we need to do right now in consideration of environment protection and children’s welfare.
In these times we are suffering from contagious disease and environment issues, Hyundai Motor Group knew what we should be taking the lead in, and did not stop at thinking about it, but actually acted it out, continuously. If our small efforts accumulate, we may be able to change the present and future of our children. Let’s participate in activities for children’s happiness with Hyundai Motor Group.
