Time to get a glimpse of the driving life of the future
What Autonomous Driving technology is available for your commute today? The recently released 8th generation SONATA is equipped with advanced driver assist systems for a safer and more convenient driving experience, providing a taste of what the future holds. Here is an overview.
Highway Driving Assist, HDA
HDA, Highway Driving Assist
An automated system helps control the speed of the car and keeps the vehicle in the correct lane while driving on the highway by using a range of information such as distance from the car ahead, lanes, and navigation-based speed limit, eliminating the need to step on the brakes or the accelerator during long distance driving or while driving in busy traffic.
Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, FCA
FCA, Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist
Front radar and camera signals warn the driver of potential forward collisions with vehicles in front, pedestrians or bicycles. The system applies the brakes if needed to prevent or minimize impact.
Smart Cruise Control, SCC
SCC, Smart Cruise Control
Sensors automatically maintain the speed set by the driver while keeping a safe distance from the car in front. In the event of a full stop, the vehicle restarts automatically if the vehicle in front starts to move within 3 seconds. Otherwise, it alerts the driver to move forward after a full stop beyond 3 seconds.
Lane Following Assist, LFA
LFA, Lane Following Assist & LKA, Lane Keeping Assist
Using input from a forward facing camera, LKA provides steering intervention to assist the vehicle staying in the center of the lane. It can significantly reduce driver fatigue during long distance driving when used in combination with the Smart Cruise Control (SCC) with stop and go.
Lane Keeping Assist LKA
A camera installed on the front of the vehicle monitors and alerts the driver about accidental lane departures made without activating the turn signal. The system steers the vehicle back into the correct lane when deemed necessary.
