Here are a few tasteful stationary stores that will enrich your everyday lives
With the advent of computers and mobile phones, people now write less on paper, but those ‘kidults’ who like the excitation one gets as one writes on white paper will still jot down their everyday lives on paper. Sometimes they would also use cute stamps and stickers to make such recording more special. There are now more and more stationary stores for people who value the art of recording and who love stationary. Here are a few great ones that will enrich your everyday life with tasteful stationary goods.
Experience luxury stationary, Point of View
You can find foreign luxury stationary that are hard to find in Korea
This is a stationary store located on the second floor of Seongsu-dong’s complex cultural space, Orer. Fitting with their motto of “stationary is the most primitive tool in shaping stories”, they showcase various stationary tools and papers. It’s a great fun looking around some of their premium stationary. From writing tools from a Portugal brand that has been around for more than 100 years, to Czeck writing implements, you can find joy in discovering rare stationary here as well. Objects that are placed around the store also remind you of the value of recording.
You can look around many different types of stickers, clips, and other stationary goods
Curation cards that are on each item talk about how to make certain items or the designer’s personal thoughts, allowing the customers to better understand the product. Orer Lounge is also on the 2nd floor with Point of View; it provides different scents and music depending on the season to give creative inspiration to the visitors. Listen to the music in the lounge with a cup of coffee and jot down your day.

Heuksim, a place to meet vintage pencils
There is a set of a mini pencil and memo pads
This stationary store is stocked with pencils, memo pads, and other things the owner has collected according to her taste. The owner had been collecting vintage pencils since college and introduced them at the Guro market, which got famous through word-of-mouth. Eventually, she opened a small store in Yeonnam-dong. You can see the big pencil on the entrance and feel the true identity of this pencil store. There are many discontinued/vintage pencils here that remind you of the true value of pencils.

What’s so great about Heuksim is that you can try out various types of pencils before you purchase them. Depending on the thickness of the lead, you can feel the difference in the texture when you write with different pencils. As you try out numerous pencils, you will naturally develop a curiosity for pencils and will be reminded of the desire to write you never knew you had. When you purchase a pencil here, the owner will wrap it up beautifully and will tell you stories about the pencil. After hearing about it, you will feel more attached to the pencil you have in your hands. Remember that as there are mostly vintage pencils here, it will be difficult to restock them once they are sold out.
