If you knew Cheongyang as the City of Pepper, you now have to add one more thing when you think of Cheongyang. Did you know that Cheongyang is referred to as the Alps of Chungnam? In Cheongyang, there is a winter festival of enormous ice fountain that resembles the film ‘Frozen’. Cheongyang Chilgapsan Ice Fountain Festival is where you can enjoy the feast of ‘snow’ and ‘ice’ to feel the winter. Enormous ice fountain and various snow and ice sculptures will capture the eyes of visitors.

It’s already the 13th year for the Pyeongchang Trout Festival. Pyeongchang Trout Festival is one of the main winter festivals of Korea that is visited by many people every year in the theme of ‘Winter Story with Snow, Ice and Trout’ that succeeded the lives of our ancestors into a festival.

Pyeongchang is also known as the city that opened Korea’s first trout fish farm. Gonigol comes from the old place name of ‘Gonuigol’, and it is the only sericulture theme complex in Korea over 30,000 pyeong in scale. The idea for the light festival was suggested by the silkworm farms to create income during the off-season of winter. This year’s 4th Gonigol Light Festival is spreading through word of mouth as the special winter festival of not only Wonju, but also in Gangwon-do Province.

In the theme of ‘Encounter of Nature and Light’, there are 4 million LED lights in harmony with the nature to create a fantastic atmosphere. After passing through 13 different theme paths, you will reach the light tunnel that will make you press the shutter in this beautiful festival. The highlight of the Gonigol Light Festival is the Music Lighting Show that is performed 4 times every night from sunset to 10 p.m.! The entire farm is embroidered with lights to dance with the music for creating an outstanding sight.
